"The Stoic Man" a Mental Health series funded by GNHCC

As part of their effort to impact family lives in all aspect of health, The Greater Newark Healthcare Coalition has granted Griot Storyteller Media  funds  The monies are to produce a short dramatic film about a black man dealing with the stress of corporate and personal life.  The film is used a point of discussion for groups of men to help reduce the stigma of mental health therapy and promote an openness within the family structure. The "Stoic Man" is crafted to be evergreen and already has been used by several groups beyond its initial screening at Express Newark Rutgers.  Many thanks to GNHCC.

Omega Psi Phi screens "The Stoic Man"

In an animated Q&A session, audience members at the Omega Psi Phi ______of East Orange responded to a screening of "The Stoic Man" a short film crafted to reduce the stigma of mental health therapy.  A panel of several black therapists responded to the questions from their training and lived experiences as African Americans.  The testimonials offered as life lessions from audience members was amzing frank and spoke to the power of mdi to prompt enlightening discussion.  Many thanks to Omega Psi Phi. 

"Any Little Thing" a dramatic podcast on Mental Health Awareness funded by GNHCC

 "Any Little Thing" uses audio as a medium  to reach African American and minority  men dealing with the stressors of emotional and mental health. The series was launched during the height of COVID-19 when were were unable to congregate. It was also a time when unexamined tensions within the family rose to the surface.  Using a serialized drama brought to life by very talented voice actors ALT, potrayed the experiences of "Mitch Bryant" as a  relatable character, some one you might know.   Additionally a  series of 4 online discussion groups lead by African American therapists was integral to cultivating the honest discussion we so often shun. Though initiative ran two months beyond its initial target to promote a discussion in July "Minority Mental Health Month".The Greater Newark Health Coalition funded this intiative with a grant of $27,000.  Thanks to GNHCC and the morethan 14 cast and crew who help ring this into being.  The podcst
